The missing clam...another fun weekend on Keuka

15 year old Jessica
Big Shu & Little Shu
So for years we have enjoyed warmer than usual winters.  For years I would fish the Finger Lakes out of my buddy's small Lund and just crush the Jack perch.  So Shu and I break down and buy a 24 foot Grady White for the sole purpose of winter fishing.  The Grady still sits in my driveway since Halloween ready to go.

Fortunately we have discovered a true honey-hole only 200 yards from Shu's lake house.  We came down Friday night and enjoyed a great dinner at the Valley Inn.  Next morning I unloaded the ice sled, but when I went for the Clam it was gone.  Shu and I could not believe it.  Had someone stole it?  We just could not believe it!.

Caught on 4lb test. !
So we endured Saturday on the ice without the Clam and it was cold, cold, cold.  Even though it was 40 in Rochester, whenever there is wind on the ice it is cold.  We really missed the Clam.  Next morning we got up and drove an hour to Bass Pro Shops in Auburn only to find that they had been sold out for months.  On our way back to Keuka Shu called Gander Mountain in Rochester where he learned they had a bunch of ice shelters.  He then called his son to run pick one up and to meet us at the lake.  An hour later his son called to report they too were sold out of shelters.  Shu doubled checked his phone in disbelief only to find that he had called Gander Mountain in Rochester Minnesota!!!

None the less we had the good fun of ice fishing with our teenagers and with their busy social lives it was a true blessing for us to have quality time with them.
