October Chautauqua Lake 49" Muskellunge
The kids and I spent the weekend in Mayville muskellunge fishing. Although we only landed one fish, boy was she a good one!. Our boat was in the shop for repairs, so we rented a boat from We Wan Chu at 7:30 AM on Sunday. Jake was the pilot and we started our trolling runs at the Bell Tower. We had a Fish Tech MSB 250, black, on one line and a Believer on the other line. The water was calm with air temperatures at 71 degrees and a green glaze of algae across the surface. After a few passes we headed to the opposite shoreline. At approximately 10:30 AM this giant fished crushed our lure and the 15 minute fight was on. Jake and I worked the fish together. We also successfully released this fish!
This fish measured out to be 49" and weighed 34 lbs.
The fish was very golden in color with deep red fins. The fish was very healthy with no signs of sores or stress.
