More pics & memories of Haultain

This is a great picture of my grandfather holding a northern pike he caught with my Uncle Cam in Canada in the 1970's. He was always proud of this fish. This was a 40"+ pike that he caught in a canoe! I thought of him a lot on our last fishing trip. I know he would have loved the setting: moose and loons in the water, incredible sunsets, and strong camp coffee. Clint and I enjoyed this trip and are grateful for the skills passed on to us by he and our Uncle Cam.

Here are some more pics I just got from the Fish Tek CEO in the mail yesterday. I also got a great bag of tallywackers for my GrizzleyTail
Thanks Angus!

This picture looks out from our dock. The water along the shore has a fair number of leeches that are visible, but rarely do they latch on to you. In the evening we would sit along this shoreline and solve all the world's problems. This picture was taken around 10:30.

This picture is Clint holding another nice pike. He was exclusively using Fish Tek tackle on 50lb superbraid line on a spinning reel. He really showed off his fishing prowess on this trip. Can you see the reflections of large raindrops on a metal roof in his eyes? He had the pleasure being on the topbunk the night before when we experienced several downpours on a metal roof.

This is an areial shot of Haultain and Lil' Haultain off to the east. In Lil' Haultain we made some interesting discoveries. One is the water was over 30' deep. Secondly, I pulled a 12 inch whitefish out of the mouth of a 24" pike. We did not know there was whitefish there, and later we saw large clouds of these fish on the deep holes in big Haultain. Thirdly, Angus and Clint got into a hand to otter combat with a family of otters that did not like their presence on the lake.

This bucket contains water from the lake. It is difficult to explain to others the color of the water in this lake. I know there is an official name for this type of water, maybe some could share it with me?

This is one of my favorite pictures. Pyrotechnic brothers Angus & Clint made sure that our evenings included a nice shoreline fire. This is a picture of Clint stoking the fire. This picture captures so many great evening memories I have from coming to this lake three times, and hopefully, God willing, I will come again.
