Limekiln Lake - Splake - Friends - FamilyLimekiln Lake

The Homemade Ice Sled
We had a great New Years holiday on Limekiln Lake with family and friends.  The kids all stayed in Upperdeck with Tracy and I in the Panarama camp.  There was two feet of snow and about 6-8 inches of ice on the lake.  Earlier in the week Jake and Cole built a large ice fishing sled for the weekend.  The two student engineers did pretty good work and the sled worked out great.  Fortunately our good friends the Fosters helped us out by lending us a snowmobile to pull the ice sled a mile out into the lake.  Bradley drove his four-wheeler out and plowed  a large circle for us to set up a ring of tip ups.  The very first minnow I put in the hole I caught  ten inch perch which for Limekiln that is a monster...couldn't believe it.  Cole had the most success with catching two nice splake, Dana and KT each caught one.

We used small fathead minnows that we had brought from the Outdoor Store in Bloomfield NY.  The small blue tablets were excellent and I believe the reason why all hundred minnows lived for four days.

This was a very fun time on the ice.  Tracy and I are so proud of all these young men and women who joined us for the weekend.  We watched them grow from babes into successful young people who are bound for great things.
