Warm night on Conesus Lake

One of the first warm weeks of the year and I was fortunate enough to get a text message on Thursday from my friend Jim inviting me to go out walleye fishing on Conesus Lake that evening.  The weather was so good all week that this invite came at the perfect time.  We fished from 7- midnight.  While we did not catch any walleye, Jim did land a monster of a largemouth bass on a stick-bait troll.  Easily the biggest largemouth bass I have ever seen north of the Mason Dixon line.

The lake as flat as glass and the water temperature was already 63 degrees,  a sharp contrast to the 40+ degree water in Lake Ontario just a few miles to the north.  The water did have lots of algae balls, leftover from last year that would get on your lines quite a bit.

I was very impressed with Jim's homemade planer boards and planer mast.....very creative.
