Cold afternoon on Keuka Lake

Fishing by the Boy Scout Camp on Keuka Lake
Dave, Tom and I spent the afternoon on the branch of Keuka Lake. We launched at the boat launch in Penn Yan around 1:00. The current was really ripping in the outlet. We took a quick look down the outlet to see if the crappie were in yet, but the water was still too cold. 41 degrees. The water was crystal clear. My guess we had 10-20 foot visibility.

Released this nice smallie

We used minnows and caught about 15 perch and 1 large smallmouth all day. We kept 9, but only 3 were larger than 12 inches. It rained, snowed, and sleeted. Tough day of fishing, but we were not skunked!  We caught the fish in 8 feet of water and by the end of the day we were catching them in 50 feet.
