Catching staging salmon on Lake Ontario

This past weekend we had a fun day fishing for salmon that were getting ready to make the run up Oak Orchard. My friend Dave setup the trip with the legendary fishing guide We had a great time. Using green and white Jplugs with customized trailer hooks we were able to hook up a couple 20-25lbs salmon. A cold front was moving in with wind moving from the East to the North, with 3-4' seas.

John shared the tidbit about the term "blue plate special" coming from the time period when blue pike was fished out of the Great Lakes and served in local restaurants as a special called the "blue plate special". While this is at odds with Wikipedia's definition, it is interesting.
