Jake Crushed the Perch on Keuka
We headed out at 5:30 AM...Jake was the first one up at 5 and woke me up...that was a first as I always had been the one to wake him up. We had bought minnows from the Outdoor Store in Bloomfield for $1 a dozen. We were in the water by 6:30 AM at the public dock in Penn Yan. Not too busy and the lake was like glass. Water temperature was a 47 degrees with a 8-10 mph SSE wind. Using a pencil weight with a light hook in 20 feet of water we caught load of perch and smallmouth. Jake caught one perch that was 16 inches. Two nights earlier a friend and I fished for bullhead in the outlet and caught 4 large bullheads. These bullheads, coupled with the perch from this trip, made for a great fish fry. Jake was a pro at cleaning the bullhead, claiming he had become an expert from his experiences in the Adirondacks. fishing bullhead. Keuka Lake certainly is a beautiful lake and well be back.
