Chautauqua Lake Musky Fishing

On September 17 my brother Clint and I spent a large part of the day on Chautauqua Lake musky fishing. It was overcast and the lake was crowded with bass boats for a local tournament. We had a 36' fish follow a crankbait all the way to the boat near Midway, and a huge fish came up on a large spinner bait during the second turn of a figure 8 from under the boat in 6' of water.

Weird water as the surface water temperature was 67 degrees. I dropped a sensor down 24 feet and it was 65 degrees...thinking this wierd I went to deeper water and did the same thing at 55 feet...again 65 degrees. All I could figure was that the lake was turning over, which makes for challenging fishing, but it seems early to me for this type of transition
