Cayuga Lake

Lake Trout at 160'

Awesome Dinner!!!
Brown Trout at 75'
Dave and I have enjoyed a couple of successful Cayuga Lake outings this past month.  With Chautauqua Lake green, and the fisheries of Keuka and Seneca under duress we have driven the distance to Cayuga but have not been disappointed.

We discovered Bears Bait & Tackle in Trumansburg NY 29 Hector StTrumansburg, NY 14886  United States on our way to the launch.  The owner was great and we enjoyed seeing the old copper rigs used for deep water trolling in the finger lakes.

The first time out we caught lake trout in a 160 feet of water. The second time out we got into brown trout and Atlantic salmon.  Used a gold colored 1 ounce jig head with a 4" white swim bait, 15 pound fluorocarbon leader 6 feet long to 20 pound braid.  No terminal tackle involved.

The second time out was very cold, felt like November fishing.  The temperature was 40 and I could swear I saw frost on top of the beans in the fields on our way to the launch.
