Fun Opening Day

We started opening day eve with my good friend Dave cooking a fabulous wild game dinner at JP & Heidi's house. Included wild mushrooms that Dave picked himself. He sauteed up some loins from the deer JP shot during archery. JPs parents joined us and we enjoyed hearing JP's father telling hunting stories from every decade starting in 1940 to the present!

Opening morning had me in my favorite stand in Bloomfield. A very dark and foggy morning. I was in my spot by 5:45. Through the course of the day I saw 5 bucks, one a 200+lb class 10 pt that I missed with my 50 caliber Thompson Omega..albeit it was a good 200 yards. He was with 9 other deer on the move. Hannah joined me for the evening hunt and we saw 8 deer. fun-fun. This picture is her enroute to our spot.
